Avery Address & Shipping Label Sizes: A Quick Chart
Six label sizes cover nearly every envelope and package a household mails. Here's the chart, then a plain-English note on when each one is the right pick.

5160 — the everyday address label
Thirty labels per sheet, each 1″ × 2⅝″. If you're addressing greeting cards, invitations, or ordinary envelopes, this is the one. 5161 — the wide one
Same 1-inch height as the 5160 but four inches wide, 20 per sheet. Choose it when addresses run long — hyphenated names, "care of" lines, retirement-community suites — or when you simply want a less crowded look. Try it in the free label maker.
5162, 5163, 5164 — the shipping trio
These get progressively taller for bigger mailings: 5162 (4″ × 1⅓″, 14 per sheet) suits large envelopes, 5163 (4″ × 2″, 10 per sheet) is the classic package label with room for both addresses or bold delivery text, and 5164 (4″ × 3⅓″, 6 per sheet) covers big boxes. 5167 — the little return-address label

Common questions
What's the difference between Avery 5160, 8160, and 18160?
Nothing about the layout — all three are 30 labels per sheet at 1 inch by 2⅝ inches. The numbers mark the product line: 5160 is the laser pack, 8160 the inkjet pack, and 18160 a smaller retail pack. Anything formatted for one prints on the others.
What label size should I use for wedding invitations?
The standard 5160 address size fits invitation envelopes well and stays understated. If you want more breathing room for long names or calligraphy-style fonts, the wider 5161 (4 inches wide, 20 per sheet) gives the address more space.
Do store-brand label sheets match these sizes?
Usually, yes. Store brands print the Avery number they're compatible with on the box ("compatible with Avery 5160"). Match that number to the chart and any layout made for the Avery size will print correctly.
