Print Addresses on Envelopes for Your Canva Invitations
Canva solved the invitation. The envelopes still need a different name and address on every one. Import your guest list, choose your envelope size, style the addresses, and print the whole stack on your own printer. No hand-addressing, no address labels, no Word mail merge, and no separate design for every guest.
- No credit card. Free for one address book, up to 50 addresses
- 13 envelope sizes plus custom, so it fits the envelopes you already have
- Free envelopes carry a small “Printed with Penmark” line in one corner. Pro ($1.99 a month or $15 a year) removes it.

The last step
Canva solved the invitation. What about the envelope?
You designed the invitation in Canva, or bought an editable Canva template on Etsy and made it yours. You printed through Canva, at home, or at a local print shop. The envelopes came with the order, or you bought a box. Then the last step showed up: every one of those envelopes needs a different name and address, and a design tool was never built for that part.
Penmark does not care where the invitations came from or who printed them. It takes a guest list and your envelopes and puts the right address on each one.
Step by step
How to print your Canva invitation envelopes
Seven steps the first time. The list, the style, and your printer's loading instructions are all saved, so the thank-you notes start at step seven.
-
Get the guest addresses together
Pull everything into one place: the spreadsheet you started, the notes app, the texts from both families. Think in households rather than guests. One envelope goes to “The Okafor Family” however many of them are coming, so a 120-guest wedding is often 60 to 80 envelopes. That household count is the number to compare with the free plan's limit of 50 addresses per book; larger lists need Pro, $1.99 a month or $15 a year.
-
Import them into Penmark
Create a free account, confirm your email, and open your address book. Upload the spreadsheet as .xlsx or .csv and Penmark maps the columns it recognizes. Or paste the list as plain text from an email or a note and Penmark reads out each address for you to review. Phone contacts import from a .vcf file, and you can always type addresses in one at a time.
Photos of a paper list, Word documents, and PDFs import on Pro.
Name or First + Last · Address 1 and 2 · City, State, ZIP split or combined -
Missing a few? Send a Request Addresses link
Share one link by text, email, or QR code. Each person types in their own address, no account needed, and every response waits in a review inbox until you accept it into the book. The free plan includes one active request link per book. Pro adds multiple requests and private confirmation links for people whose address you already have.
-
Choose the envelope you actually have
Measure it; the width is the long edge. A 5 × 7 invitation usually ships in an A7 envelope, 7.25 × 5.25 in, and a 4 × 6 card in an A6, 6.5 × 4.75 in. Penmark lists 13 standard sizes and accepts any custom size from 3 to 15 inches per side. The PDF page is made exactly that size, which is what lets the addresses print where the preview shows them. The full size table is on the envelope printing page.
-
Style the recipient and return address
Pick one of nine styles (Classic, Script, Elegant, Editorial, Gallery, Modern, Casual, Minimal, Holiday) and choose small, medium, or large for the recipient block. Drag either block to where you want it; the preview is drawn with the same fonts and positions the PDF uses.
Add your return address to the front corner or the back flap, with an optional ornament beside it. Sprig, Bloom, Star, and your Initial are free; Rings, Heart, Flourish, and the seasonal set are Pro, and so are the accent colors. Every style starts in black.
-
Set up your printer
Every printer feeds envelopes a little differently, and the first attempt on a new printer often comes out upside down or on the wrong side. So the first time, print a one-page setup sheet, tell Penmark how it came out, and it works out how the envelope needs to go into the tray. Those loading instructions are saved for that printer and size and shown every time you print.
The one print setting that matters is paper size. Choose “Envelope A7” if your printer lists it; otherwise add a custom paper size of 7.25 × 5.25 in. Do not pick 5 × 7, which shifts and scales the print.

Print the whole stack
Tick the households you are mailing and download one PDF with one envelope-sized page per recipient. Load the envelopes the way your saved instructions say and print. Someone replied late? Reprint just that one. If your return address is on the back flap, the flaps print as a second pass and Penmark walks you through turning the stack over; keep any print-on-both-sides setting off.
Free envelopes carry a small “Printed with Penmark · usepenmark.com” line in the bottom-left corner of the front, well away from the address. Pro envelopes are clean.
The honest comparison
Why not just do it in Canva?
Canva is very good at the design: the invitation, and any artwork you want on the envelope. The awkward part is the other half of the job, getting eighty different names and addresses onto eighty envelopes and reliably through a home printer. Every method below works; they differ in what they are good at and what they leave for you to do.
| Method | Good for | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Handwriting | A short list, or the formal look of a hand-addressed outer envelope | Slow past a couple dozen, and it depends on your handwriting holding up to the end of the stack |
| Address labels | Fast batches on any printer, including one that cannot feed envelopes | The label is visible on the envelope, and the sheet has to line up with the label layout |
| Word mail merge | Powerful once it runs, and free if you already have Word | You set up the data source, the envelope size, and the feed orientation yourself, and again next time |
| Canva | Designing the invitation and any envelope artwork; Bulk Create, in Canva's paid plans, can fill a design from a spreadsheet | You still export, size, and print the result yourself, and the envelope feed and paper-size questions are all on you |
| Penmark | Turning an address list into a stack of printed envelopes, and keeping the list for the thank-you notes | Needs a printer that can feed your envelope; free envelopes carry a small Printed with Penmark line |
Penmark also prints Avery-compatible address labels from the same list, so if your printer turns out not to feed envelopes, nothing is retyped.
Any envelope, any source
Already bought your envelopes somewhere else?
That is fine. Penmark only needs to know the size, not where the envelopes came from. The ones that came with your Canva Print order, a box from Amazon or a stationery store, envelopes from an Etsy seller, or extras from a local print shop all work the same way.
Two checks before you commit to a box: the size is one Penmark supports, or one you can enter as a custom size, and your printer can feed it. If you are still shopping, a standard size such as A7 keeps the setup simple, and the custom-size route covers the rest.
Occasions
Any Canva invitation, any occasion
The workflow is the same whatever the envelope is carrying: one list, one style, one PDF. And the list keeps working after the event, for the thank-you notes and next year's holiday cards.

Common questions
Before you load the first envelope
Can I print addresses on Canva invitation envelopes at home?
Yes, as long as your printer can feed the envelope. Penmark makes a PDF that is exactly the size of your envelope, one page per recipient, so you print it on the envelopes you already have. Most home inkjet and laser printers with an envelope or manual-feed slot can do it. The first time, print one setup page so Penmark can learn how your printer loads envelopes and save it.
Can I print a different address on every envelope?
Yes, that is the whole point. Choose the recipients from your address book and Penmark produces one PDF with one envelope-sized page per household, each with that household's name and address. You can also print a single envelope or a subset, for example the late additions to the guest list.
Do I need Microsoft Word mail merge?
No. Penmark takes the place of the merge: the address list lives in your account, the envelope size and style are chosen once, and the PDF is built for you. There is no template to download, no data source to connect, and no field codes. Anything that can open a PDF can print it, including your browser.
Can I import addresses from Excel or CSV?
Yes. Upload an .xlsx or .csv file and Penmark maps the columns it recognizes: a Name column or First and Last, Address 1 with an optional Address 2, and City, State, and ZIP either split into columns or combined in one. Google Sheets works too: download the sheet as .xlsx or .csv first. A legacy .xls file needs to be saved as .xlsx. Spreadsheet import is part of the free plan.
What envelope size do Canva invitations use?
It depends on the size you designed. Canva's default invitation size is 5 × 7 inches, which ships in an A7 envelope (7.25 × 5.25 in). A 4 × 6 card takes an A6 envelope (6.5 × 4.75 in), and A2 (5.75 × 4.375 in) is common for RSVP cards. Measure the envelope you actually have; the width is the long edge. Penmark supports 13 standard sizes and any custom size from 3 to 15 inches per side, so square and unusual envelopes work as well.
Can I print the return address too?
Yes. Add your return address once and it prints on every envelope, in the upper-left corner of the front or on the back flap. The flap version prints as a second pass through the printer, and Penmark walks you through reloading the stack. An optional ornament prints with the return address: Sprig, Bloom, Star, and your Initial are free; the rest, including the Rings shown above, are part of Penmark Pro.
Can I use envelopes I bought somewhere else?
Yes. Penmark only needs to know the envelope's size, so it does not matter whether the envelopes came with your Canva order, from Etsy, Amazon, a stationery store, or a local print shop. Textured or colored stock is fine as long as it is light enough for the ink to read. Two things to check: the size is one Penmark supports, or one you can enter as a custom size, and your printer can feed that envelope.
What if I don't have everyone's address yet?
Send a Request Addresses link. Share one Penmark link by text, email, or QR code; each person types in their own mailing address without creating an account, and the responses land in a review inbox where you accept them into your book. The free plan includes one active request link per book. Penmark Pro adds multiple requests and private confirmation links that let people confirm or update an address you already have.
